Wire we buy
SELL SURPLUS XHHW AND XHHW-2 WIRE
Cross-linked polyethylene insulation, built for wet locations and cold pulls — and usually bought in feeder quantities that leave real footage behind.
Overview
XHHW is a cross-linked polyethylene insulated conductor rated for higher heat than standard thermoplastic wire and suitable for wet locations. XHHW-2 raises the wet-location temperature rating again, which is why it shows up on Utah service entrances, underground feeders, agricultural services and any run that has to survive a wet conduit. It is commonly specified in aluminum for larger feeders and in copper where the engineer wanted copper.
Because XHHW is usually ordered in feeder sizes — 1/0 through 500 MCM, sometimes 750 or 1000 — a single leftover reel can hold serious value. We buy those reels whether they are untouched factory stock or a partial left over from a service upgrade.
If you are holding XHHW that was pulled and then not used, say so. Pulled-but-never-energized conductor is handled differently from cable that has been in service, and being upfront about it makes the quote faster and more accurate.
What we buy
XHHW and XHHW-2 wire we purchase in Utah
- XHHW and XHHW-2 in copper and aluminum

Dual-rated jackets are worth mentioning
Many modern reels are marked with several ratings at once, such as XHHW-2/RHW-2/USE-2. Tell us the full print line rather than one rating — it changes what the material can be used for.

Details that speed up a quote
None of this is mandatory. It is simply what lets us answer with a number instead of a follow-up question.
- The exact marking: XHHW, XHHW-2, or a dual-rated jacket
- Conductor size and metal, plus the number of parallel runs if it was part of a set
- Insulation color and any phase identification
- Footage remaining and the reel size
- Whether the wire has been installed, pulled, or never left the reel
- Photos of the reel tag and a close-up of the jacket print
