How selling works
HOW SELLING SURPLUS WIRE WORKS
Four steps from "there is wire in the back of the shop" to a scheduled pickup. No account, no listing fee, no obligation to sell.
-
1. Submit the wire details and photos
Use the quote form, email us, or call. The form asks for the details that decide value: type, size, metal, voltage, approximate footage, reel or coil count, condition, packaging and location.
-
2. We review the material
We read the reel tags and jacket print, check whether the sizes and constructions are ones we can place, and ask about anything that is ambiguous. If a photo is unreadable we will say so rather than guess.
-
3. We discuss pricing and logistics
You get a number for the material as described, along with how it would be loaded and who arranges freight. If condition or quantity changes what we can pay, we tell you why.
-
4. Pickup or shipping is arranged
Once both sides agree, we schedule the pickup or the shipment. Nothing moves until you have accepted the terms in writing.
Photos
What makes a good photo set
Four photos will usually do more than a long description. Take them with the phone you already have, in daylight if possible, and do not worry about staging.
- The reel tag. Straight on, close enough to read the footage, size and catalog number.
- The jacket print. The full print line, including temperature and voltage ratings.
- The overall pile. One wide shot showing how many reels or boxes there are and how they are stacked.
- The cut end. For multi-conductor cable, a close look at the conductors, colors and shield.
Photos stay with the quote request and are only used to evaluate your material.
No footage on the tag?
Send the reel diameter and the number of wraps you can see, or a scale ticket if the reel was weighed. We can usually work from that.
Logistics
Pickup, freight and loading
Small lots usually move by LTL freight on a pallet. Large wooden reels need a flatbed or a trailer with a winch, and occasionally a crane or boom truck if the reel cannot be rolled. Tell us which of those your site can handle and we plan around it.
If you can load a truck, say so — it keeps costs down. If the material is inside a building, behind a gate, or up a set of stairs, say that too. Loading access is the single most common reason a pickup gets rescheduled.
What we ask about access
- Dock, forklift, or ground level only
- Gate hours and any site safety or escort requirements
- Whether a truck and trailer can turn around on site
- Any deadline by which the material has to be gone
Scope
What we do not buy
To keep this simple for both sides: we buy wire and cable. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, vehicles or general scrap metal.
If your surplus list mixes wire with that equipment, send the wire portion and we will quote what fits. We would rather tell you plainly that something is out of scope than waste a site visit.

Ready to start? Send the details
Tell us what the wire is, how much of it you have and where it sits in Utah. Add photos of the reels and tags and we can usually come back with a real answer instead of more questions.
