SELL SURPLUS MC AND AC CABLE
Armored cable comes off commercial jobs in coils, and those coils are easy to identify, easy to load and easy to quote.
Overview
Metal-clad and armored cable wrap insulated conductors in a flexible metal jacket so the cable can be run without conduit in many assemblies. MC cable is common in commercial tenant improvements, schools, hospitals and data halls across the Wasatch Front; AC cable shows up in older buildings and in specific assemblies. Both arrive on a job in coils of 250, 500 or 1,000 feet inside a carton, and both leave a job as partial coils when the layout changes.
We buy MC and AC in the sizes that actually get used: 12/2, 12/3, 10/2, 10/3, 10/4 and larger multi-conductor constructions, with or without a ground, in aluminum or steel armor. Original cartons and coil tags help but are not required.
The most common question we ask is simply how much is left on the coil. If the coil has been cut twice and nobody wrote it down, an estimate plus a photo of the coil is enough to start a conversation.

Details that speed up a quote
None of this is mandatory. It is simply what lets us answer with a number instead of a follow-up question.
- Conductor size and count, written as the trade writes it: 12/2, 10/3, 8/4
- Armor type if known: aluminum or steel, interlocked or smooth
