SELL SURPLUS CONTROL AND INSTRUMENTATION CABLE
Small conductors, high conductor counts, and the shielding details that decide what a reel is actually worth.
Overview
Control cable carries switching and interlock signals between panels, starters and field devices. Instrumentation cable carries measurement signals — 4-20 mA loops, thermocouples, RTDs, analog and digital I/O — and is almost always shielded, often with individually shielded pairs under an overall shield. Both are specified in plants, water and wastewater facilities, mines, refineries, food processing and any Utah site with a control system.
Surplus comes from upgrades and retrofits: a DCS or SCADA replacement, a panel rebuild, a line that was removed. Reels are often small by footage but high in conductor count, which makes them awkward to value without knowing the construction. That is why we ask for the print line rather than just the gauge.
We buy control and instrumentation cable in copper, on wooden reels and in coils, from #18 through #10, in constructions from two conductors up to multi-pair and multi-triad cables.

The cut end tells the story
A photo of the cut end shows conductor colors, shield construction and drain wires in one frame. It is the single most useful picture for this category.

Details that speed up a quote
None of this is mandatory. It is simply what lets us answer with a number instead of a follow-up question.
- Conductor count and how it is organized: 12/C, 8 pair, 4 triad
- Gauge, usually 18, 16 or 14 AWG
- Shield description: overall foil, individually shielded pairs, braid, drain wire
- Voltage rating and temperature rating from the print
- Footage remaining on each reel
- Photos of the reel tag and the jacket print, plus a look at the cut end
