SELL SURPLUS TRAY AND VFD CABLE
Plant cable: tray-rated multi-conductor and shielded drive cable, usually on wooden reels with the footage still written on the flange.
Overview
Tray cable is a factory-assembled multi-conductor cable rated for installation in cable trays without conduit. TC, TC-ER (exposed run), PLTC and ITC variants appear constantly in Utah industrial work — mines and processing plants, wastewater and water treatment, food plants, data centers and manufacturing expansions. VFD cable is a shielded variant built for variable frequency drives, with symmetrical grounds and foil or braid shielding to keep drive noise out of the rest of the plant.
Both are usually bought on 500, 1,000 or 2,500 foot wooden reels, and both leave partial reels behind when a drive lineup changes or a tray route gets shortened. The jacket print is dense but useful: it tells you the temperature rating, the voltage class, whether the cable is sunlight resistant, and often the standard it was built to.
We buy full and partial reels, and we buy mixed lots. If you have twelve reels from a decommissioned line and only some are labeled, send photos of the flanges and we can usually work out what is what.

Most tray cable reels have the length stamped or written on the flange. That single number turns an estimate into a quote.

Details that speed up a quote
None of this is mandatory. It is simply what lets us answer with a number instead of a follow-up question.

- Conductor count and size, written as 3/C 12 AWG or 4/C 8 AWG
- Shield type for VFD cable: foil, braid, or both
- Footage remaining and reel diameter
- Whether the cable has been pulled through a tray or is still factory-tied
- Photos of the reel flange, the tag and a close-up of the print
