SELL SURPLUS LOW-VOLTAGE AND COMMUNICATION CABLE
Boxes of data cable, spools of fire alarm cable and the leftover coax from a security install — small items, but they add up fast.
Overview
Low-voltage cable covers the limited-energy side of a building: Category 5e, 6 and 6A data cable, coaxial cable for video and broadband, fire alarm cable in FPL, FPLR and plenum-rated constructions, security and access control cable, and the general-purpose low-voltage cable used for thermostats, sensors and door hardware.
Most of this material is bought in 500 or 1,000 foot boxes and pulled in part. A partially used box is normal, and a stack of unopened boxes from a cancelled tenant improvement is the ideal case. Data center refreshes, school district cabling projects, telecom rooms and security contractors in Utah generate this material steadily.
We buy unopened boxes, partial boxes, spools and loose coils. Plenum-rated cable and shielded data cable are worth identifying specifically, because the rating and the category both affect value.
